Since Poland’s entry into the European Union, Warsaw has obtained over PLN 18 billion from the EU budget for investments and development. The capital city of our country is a leader in obtaining EU funds in the entire Central and Eastern Europe region. The largest project supported by these funds is the Metro.
The 23rd of April is World Book and Copyright Day, established by UNESCO as an annual celebration to promote reading and protection of intellectual property. Warsaw is one of the European cities which place particular emphasis on the value of books in everyday life.
The Palace of Culture and Science will be illuminated again today in white, red and white, and an opposition Belarusian flag will appear on the mast of the Warsaw City Hall as a symbol of solidarity with Belarus.
The presidents of Bratislava, Budapest, Prague and Warsaw signed the Pact of Free Cities in the Hungarian capital. They pledged in it to defend democratic values and collectively seek European subsidies directly for their local government bodies.
