The European Commission has announced the final results of the European Innovation Capital (iCapital) competition. Warsaw came second in this year's competition, beating dozens of cities from across the Old Continent.

The new seat of the Museum of Modern Art will open to the public in the autumn of 2024. To mark the occasion, MSN Warsaw will hold its largest exhibition in history, showcasing artworks from its collection amassed over nearly 20 years of the museum’s existence. The display will include works by Alina Szapocznikow, Magdalena Abakanowicz and Edward Dwurnik.

The European Commission has announced this year's finalists for the European Capital of Innovation (iCapital) competition. Warsaw reached the final. It will now compete for the prestigious title of European Capital of Innovation 2023 together with Lisbon and Lviv.

Feature films, documentaries, independent films, animation, and short films from all over the world - Warsaw is preparing for a flurry of film festivals this autumn. The capital's cinemas are screening films for young audiences, as well as horror and fantasy films.

Applications for sports scholarships from the Capital City of Warsaw for 2024 are now open. Talented athletes or their parents, as well as coaches, can do so until 2nd January next year.

The Pearls of Warsaw 2023 - the winning walking trails in the annual competition organised by the city - are now known. More than seventy participants took part in the competition with proposals for tours in various districts of the capital, from Wawer to Bemowo.

In the second half of September, a great celebration of global music - the Crossroads of Cultures Festival - will take place in Warsaw. The list of performing artists includes Vieux Farka Touré, Tamikrest, and Sara Correia. In addition to the concerts, workshops for families with children, panel discussions, and an exhibition are also planned. Most of the events will take place at the Drama Theatre.

On land and water. From sunrise to sunset. On the right and left bank. The Vistula District invites all Varsovians to Płyta Desantu - for the joint end of the season and the jubilee 15th edition of the Vistula Festival.

On 25 and 26 August, residents of the capital can listen live to hits from the repertoires of The Rolling Stones, U2, Coldplay, Nirvana, Ed Sheeran or Harry Styles. All thanks to the extraordinary Warsaw Undercover Festival event, which will take place on Friday and Saturday at Legia Park at Łazienkowska Street 3. A free public Warsaw Festival Zone will be waiting for those interested.

A unique Night of Photography will take place on 18 August. The event will feature award-winning photographs by debutants and some of Poland's most famous photographers. Participation in the shows is free of charge.

During the 79th anniversary of the outbreak of the Warsaw Uprising, ceremonies and events are being held across the capital to commemorate this heroic insurgence. Residents and visitors should expect traffic changes and parking restrictions. Special bus and tram lines will take to the streets.

"Love always exists" (PL- Miłość istnieje zawsze) is the slogan for this year's commemoration of the anniversary of the Warsaw Uprising. Emotions and values are the themes of many events in the 79th anniversary programme. At the 25 July press conference announcing the commemorations, the Warsaw insurgents issued an appeal to honour the 'W' hour with dignity.

The kayak season has kicked off!. Until the end of the summer holidays, there are many opportunities for free paddling on the river.

This year, Warsaw is celebrating 70th Anniversary of its Old Town. Throughout three days, 70 family events will take place on this occasion - concerts, walks, art and film workshops, meetings, exhibitions, city games, dance parties and a birthday toast. This is the first such lavish joint celebration of the anniversary of the Old Town Square reconstruction.

In July and August, jazz music will resound in Warsaw. Once again, open concerts in the Old Town will feature, among others, Marcin Masecki and Krzesimir Dębski.

Free and open-air film screenings are one of Warsaw's suggestions for warm summer evenings. There are many places where whole families can go. The capital invites you to festival cinema screenings, but there will also be plenty of cinema novelties and film classics.

Passengers of the Warsaw transport can still suspend the validity of their season tickets. The Mayor of Warsaw has decided to keep this option open.

The Warsaw Public Transport timetable is changing on Saturday, 24 June. It will remain valid until 3 September. The summer holidays will see a change in the timetables of dozens of bus lines, trams and the metro. There will be new lines and longer routes.

The next edition of "Wreaths at the Vistula 2023" (Wianki nad Wisłą 2023) will take place on June 24th, organised by the City of Warsaw to welcome summer. This year's finale concert will be held under the motto: "KORA. Przyszłam na świat po to" (KORA. I came to the world for this), which is a tribute to the work of Polish music legend Kora Jackowska. The unique event will be hosted by Ralph Kaminski. Live broadcast only on TVN.

Warsaw Equality Month is a series of June events with which the city promotes social diversity, equal treatment and human rights. It will culminate in the Equality Parade - this Saturday.
