Warsaw makes efforts to maintain the healthy lifestyle and physical activity of its residents. There are 16 district and 2 citywide sports and recreation centres in Warsaw.
The Culture Park in Powsin is particularly noteworthy. It is a 50-hectare forest and park area with an outdoor swimming pool, a complex of sports pitches, tennis courts, a sports and recreation pavilion with a gym, sauna, a bowling alley and a sports equipment rental point, which also features an 18-hole golf course, open-air gyms, a playground and all-year cabins.
The remaining centres offer a rich selection of indoor and outdoor swimming pools, sports halls, rooms and pitches, tennis courts, squash rooms, skating rinks, skate parks, bowling alleys, climbing walls and saunas. The All-Year Ski Slope in the Szczęśliwice Park is a unique facility.
We provide conditions for the development of young people’s passions by implementing the following programmes and actions: From play to sports, Summer/Winter in the City, and the Warsaw Youth Olympics. With these programmes children discover the spirit of competition and try themselves in new, unknown disciplines. The City arranges a number of sports activities for adults as part of the ‘Active Varsovian’ and ‘Active by the Vistula’ programmes, during which residents improve their sporting skills or begin their sports journey. We don't forget about seniors, who can find activities tailored to their needs.
We know the importance of supporting sportspeople and coaches on the path to success and development. Every year we award scholarships and sports prizes for the most talented sportspeople and their coaches.
With open invitations to tender, the City supports NGOs and sports clubs which provide training for children and adolescents and sports training for the disabled and organise events for Warsaw’s residents.
The sports activities offered by the City include regular sports events, such as the Independence Run, the Warsaw Uprising Run and the 3rd May Constitution Run.
As part of the promotion, the City has established cooperation with organisers of large sports and sports & recreation events. Recently these included Tour de Pologne, Cavaliada, Ironman 70.3, Speedway Grand Prix of Poland and many others, enjoying great popularity among Warsaw’s residents.
