The Legion of Honor for Hanna Gronkiewicz-Waltz

On October 26th , the Mayor of the City of Warsaw, Ms. Hanna Gronkiewicz-Waltz was appointed by Knight of the Order of Legion of Honor at the Embassy of France.

The order was granted by the President of France by a decree on 23rd April 2007.

-I am glad that I could honor one of the greatest figures of the Polish democracy in this way. Ms. Gronkiewicz-Waltz is a special representative both of the monetary and financial sector and a friend of France - French ambassador, Mr. François Barry Delongchamps said in his speech.

- This is my first international award. Its taste is so much better due to the fact I had to wait for it for such a long time - Hanna Gronkiewicz-Waltz said after the adoption of the Legion of Honor.

Foreign decorations for a Polish citizen require permission of the Polish President. The Mayor of Warsaw had waited 4 years for this license. In the end, President Bronisław Komorowski accepted the Legion of Honor for Hanna Gronkiewicz-Waltz.
