The largest Euro 2012 Fan Zone is being created in Warsaw.

On Monday, May 14, the construction of the Warsaw Fan Zone began. It is the largest among all the zones created for the Euro 2012 tournament, both in Poland and Ukraine. On the day of the official opening, it will become the centre of the big football festival.

The Fan Zone will be a place where for the entire time of its operation, the fans will have the opportunity to attend free, taking part in numerous events organised by the city of Warsaw and the official sponsors of the UEFA EURO 2012™. Various interesting attractions and surprises and a lot of entertainment are being prepared there, the variety of which will allow the integration of Polish and other European fans. There will be live match broadcasts, live concerts of music stars, as well as the opportunity to take part in many competitions and games, also designed with children in mind. In the Warsaw Fan Zone, everybody will feel the real football spirit!


The Fan Zone Area
The largest of all the fan zones, covering an area of 120 000 square metres, is situated on Parade Square and  part of the Marszałkowska Street, near the Palace of Culture and Science, at the heart of the Polish capital. The Warsaw Fan Zone will have a capacity of over 100 000 people at the same time. The establishment of the zone is a crucial part of the city’s preparations for the upcoming Tournament.

The Organisation of the Fan Zone Area
The assembly of technical parts comprising the Zone will take place from May 14 to June 3. The Zone will operate for 24 days, the entire duration of the tournament, from June 8 to July 1.

The official opening of the Zone will take place in the evening of June 7, the day before the first match. During match days, the Fan Zone will be open from 12.00 noon to 1.00 a.m., and from 12.00 noon to 11.00 p.m. on the days without a match. On the day of the official farewell to the Fan Zone, July 1, the fun will last from 12.00 noon. to 4.00 a.m. A complete deconstruction of the Zone and the tidying up of its site will end on July 3.

During the Zone’s operation, its area will be fenced off. There will be seven entrances on four sides of Parade Square: Plater, Świętokrzyska, Marszałkowska and Al. Jerozolimskie Streets. The assembly of the fence will take place on the upcoming days.

During the arrangement of the Zone, 6 LED displays will be assembled. The largest of them will measure 147 square metres. Thus, it will become the largest LED display in Poland so far. Joined in the football spirit, the fans will be able to watch the broadcasts of all the tournament’s matches. A stage near the entrance from Marszałkowska Street will be assembled, as well as 2 stands located by the main entrances.
