The Green Climate Fund

The Green Climate Fund was established as an operating entity of the financial mechanism of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change by decision of Conference of the Parties to the Convention on December 11, 2011.

The Parties were invited to express their interest in hosting the Fund by April 15, 2012. The Green Climate Fund host-city is to be finally endorsed by Conference of the Parties during its 18th session in Doha (Quatar), December 2012, following the selection process conducted by the Green Climate Fund.

Poland has already expressed its interest in hosting the Green Climate Fund by nominating Warsaw as a candidate for the Green Climate Fund host-city. The candidancy of Warsaw was submitted to the Interim Secretariat on April 13, 2012. The Government of Poland has endorsed the nomination of Warsaw for the Green Climate Fund host-city by decision of the Council of Ministers made on April 10.
