On Sunday, 1 May, at 21.30, we will witness the sixth edition of the Multimedia Fountain Park show, which in recent years has become the most popular attraction in Warsaw. This time the show will be devoted to Warsaw mermaids and their legend.

Owing to state-of-the-art technology, the story of the legendary guardians of the city will address both its contemporary image and history.
Warsaw residents and tourists alike traditionally associate the beginning of May with the launch of this original attraction in Warsaw. Thus, I would like to invite everyone to another, brand new show,” said Hanna Gronkiewicz-Waltz, Mayor of Warsaw.

“Nearly one million Warsaw residents and tourists visited Multimedia Fountain Park last year. I hope this year we will see an equally impressive audience,” said Andrzej Matusiak, Director of Stołeczna Estrada, the cultural institution which is organising the event. “The Fountain Park is today among the most important summer attractions of the capital. We have prepared an exciting show with absolutely unique music and visuals.”

We will see the mermaids on several scenes on different Warsaw locations – on the Vistula, in the Old Town or in one of the local schools. Smiling and joyful mermaids appear out of the blue wherever help is needed. The authors of the show created an energetic, colourful and positive spectacle. Animations coupled with light effects, lasers and spectacular fountains create an unforgettable experience.

Equally important will be a reference to the history of Warsaw, remembrance of one of the capital’s heroes – Krystyna “Danuta” Krahelska – an ethnographer, poet, author of the iconic “Hej, chłopcy, bagnet na broń!” (“Hey, boys, bayonet on a rifle!”) song, and participant in the Warsaw Uprising who died in the early days of the uprising. Before the war, she modelled for Prof. Ludwika Nitschowa who created the red bronze monument of the Warsaw Mermaid that has been standing on the bank of the Vistula to this day.
The first shows at Multimedia Fountain Park will be organised by Stołeczna Estrada on 1, 2 and 3 May at 21.30. Admission is free.
