The second call for proposals concerning the co-financing of P&R facilities in the Warsaw metropolis from EU Funds has been opened. Local governments can obtain 6 million euros.
It is the second call for proposals concerning the expansion of the transfer car-park system - in the first edition, 13 projects will be granted subsidies in the amount of PLN 60 million (27 car-parks in total) housing over 2.6 thousand parking spaces for cars and over 1.1 thousand bicycle stands altogether. In this edition, the sum of 6 million euros (over PLN 24 million) has been allocated - co-financing can cover up to 80 percent of the investment, the remaining part being the so-called own contribution of municipalities. The points will be granted for, i.a., the number of parking spaces for cars and bicycles, the number of possible connections with various means of public transport, and access to the cycle path system.
The local governments operating within the Covenant of Municipalities of the Warsaw Functional Area may submit their applications by 1 June 2017. Warsaw is planning to apply for the construction of two car parks - near the Warsawa-Żerań railway station (approx. 281 parking spaces), and in the vicinity of the Rembertów District Office (approx. 140 parking spaces).
The decision on the location of new P&R facilities will be announced at the turn of September and October, following the announcement of the competition results.
Commuters will be able to park free of charge on the basis of a city transport ticket or a ticket issued by a local transport-service provider. P&R facilities located in municipalities around Warsaw will be marked in a uniform way - using the graphic design which refers to car parks managed by the Public Transport Authority in Warsaw.
