The first volleyballers and footballers have already tested the Recreation Zone set up in front of the Palace of Culture and Science. The official opening of the capital's latest attraction, including a freestyle football demonstration, took place on Friday, 10 June.
It’s open! The Recreation Zone in front of the Palace of Culture and Science, near Świętokrzyski Park and Marszałkowska Street, is open and ready for visitors every day from 10.30 am till 9.30 pm. It will be open until mid-September.
Playing fields, the beach, and equipment are available free of charge.
The Zone opened with a freestyle football show and a dribbling contest for teams of three, wearing a special pair of trousers joining the players.
At 7 pm the zone was officially opened by Jarosław Jóźwiak, the Deputy Mayor of the Capital City of Warsaw, Renata Kaznowska, President of the Management Board of the Palace of Culture and Science, Janusz Samel, Head of the Sport and Recreation Bureau of the Warsaw City Hall, and Adam Boniecki, Head of the ACTIVE WARSAW Municipal Sports Centre.
After the official part of the opening was concluded, the stage was taken over by Mélody Donchet, a multiple champion and silver medallist in freestyle football. She invited the youngest audience members to join in her show.
