The purpose of the reconstruction and modernisation of the pavilion existing since 1957 was improvement of sanitary and hygienic conditions for patients and personnel and adjustment of rooms for the existing regulations. In the renewed building of Grochowski Hospital, the Internal Disease Ward with 61 beds will be situated.

Modernization of pavilion I began in December 2014 and modernization works took 12 months. Upon modernization on particular floors of the pavilion I of floorage constituted 2 000 m2 , the following are located:
 - basements:  locker rooms for personnel, archive and technical and storage rooms,
ground floor: 3rd Internal Ward - section with 17 beds (7 patient rooms and 3 post rooms of increased supervision), diagnostic – surgery room and nursing point;
- first floor: 3rd Internal Ward - section with 21 beds (9 patient rooms and 3 post rooms of increased supervision), diagnostic – surgery room and nursing point;
- second floor: I Internal Ward – section with 23 beds (10 patient rooms and 3 post rooms of increased supervision), diagnostic – surgery room.
- attic - technical rooms.

Modernization of pavilion at Grenadierów street was possible as a result of subsidizing from the budget of the City of Warsaw in the amount of PLN 10.8 million.
