For the second time, the city's New Year’s Eve celebrations will take place on Bankowy Square. The event will feature performances by an array of Polish stars, who will sing their own songs, as well as the greatest world hits. At midnight, a unique light and laser show will be held.
"If you want to have lots of fun on New Year’s Eve, come to Bankowy Square,” said Renata Kaznowska, Deputy Mayor of Warsaw, during the press conference. “This year and, I hope, in the following years, there will be no fireworks display. This is the decision of Mayor Rafał Trzaskowski, which I am very pleased to hear, because the noise caused by fireworks is a traumatising experience for animals".
Deputy Mayor Renata Kaznowska also appealed to the residents to follow the example of the city and give up private fireworks. She recalled that this was the request of residents received by the City, and another concerned making the place of the celebrations fully adjusted to the needs of the disabled.
“On the square, there will be a special zone without architectural barriers, Polish sign language interpreters and an induction loop,” Renata Kaznowska emphasised.
The safety requirements and regulations of the mass event of the Warsaw New Year’s Eve is were recalled by Ewa Gawor, Director of the Public Safety & Crisis Management Department.
“It is not allowed to bring fireworks, glass containers or sharp objects. Individuals with such items will need to leave them at the gates,” Ewa Gawor said.
"The event is not just the concert, but other attractions awaiting Varsovians in the roofed and heated area,” said Robert Zydel, Director of the Marketing Department. The area will feature a New Year’s Eve makeup zone, a photo corner and a games zone.
Stars on Bankowy Square
Performing on the New Year’s Eve scene will be top Polish stars, such as Bajm, Edyta Górniak, Agnieszka Chylińska, Andrzej Piaseczny, Wilki, Anna Wyszkoni, Natalia Nykiel, Sarsa, Sound’n’Grace, Blue Cafe, Izabela Trojanowska, Małgorzata Ostrowska, Ania Karwan, Smolasty and Sławek Uniatowski.
The event’s hosts will be the most popular presenters of the TVN station: Magda Mołek, Marcin Prokop, Filip Chajzer, Gabi Drzewiecka and Agustin Egurrola.
The fun on Bankowy Square will begin on Monday 31 December at 7 p.m., and the broadcast in the TVN television station will start at 7.40 p.m.
