The second edition of the Neighbourly Initiative programme has not started on 14 February by accident. It is a day for building bonds, spending time together and doing something good, and it fits in very well with the idea behind the programme.
It is a unique programme addressed mostly to people with no experience in preparing applications or implementing projects. Its objective is to encourage the putting into effect of ideas for neighbourly integration, and for ways to activate local communities, said Karolina Zdrodowska, Coordinator for Entrepreneurship and Social Dialogue at the City of Warsaw.
The originators will also have a chance to gain experience in organising community initiatives and to continue them in the future. All social transformations begin with small, local changes.
All you need is an idea!
Do you have an idea for neighbourly integration? A picnic with your neighbour, local pétanque tournament, a performance by a local band, an intergenerational trip to the forest, sowing a flowery meadow, joint painting of a mural, or placing benches at the courtyard. Submit your idea to the Neighbourly Initiative Programme.
Groups playing a sport together, taking care of green areas and surroundings, and people who share a passion or activity may apply for the funding of the initiative in the amount of PLN 500 to 2000. It must be a group of at least three persons bound by neighbourly relationships.
The programme is not only financial support, but most of all it includes administrative and organisational assistance provided by an experienced team of mentors. District coordinators are available at each stage of the application procedure - from assistance in preparing the application, through the action itself, to evaluation. The support is provided by an experienced team representing the implementing entity, Fundacja Stocznia (Shipyard Foundation).
Where to begin?
It all starts with idea and willingness. Further steps are described on the programme website. Before preparing the application it is best to contact your district coordinator who will help you make all necessary arrangements and advise on solutions already at this stage.
Open meetings, during which the coordinators will answer any questions that may arise, will be organised in each city district. The schedule of meetings will be published on the programme website. The Shipyard Foundation is waiting for you submissions by 14 March 2022.
No time to waste!
You can start implementing your initiative right after you receive information about the support granted. This means that the first neighbourly activities might begin in early spring. A perfect moment for joint actions.
Last year, the maximum financing amount, PLN 2,000, was awarded for silk painting workshops in Włochy, the Maria Prymachenko square in Białołęka, a neighbourly meeting at Zwierzyniecka St. in Mokotów, and the Kazimierz Deyna Football Tournament in Ochota. A full list of projects implemented as part of the first edition can be found on the programme website.
The Neighbourly Initiatives Programme is financed by the City of Warsaw.
