For the fifteenth time in a row, the City of Warsaw will take part in MIPIM, the leading real estate event for property professionals.
MIPIM is to be held at Palais des Festivals in Cannes, France, from March 12th to 15th 2013.
Warsaw, which in November of this year hosts the UN Climate Change Conference COP 19, will present its ecological approach. The Polish capital has set itself the goal of ensuring a high standard of living for its residents (now in the top 20 of the UN City Prosperity Index 2012) in conditions of sustainable development and respect for the natural environment. Warsaw’s greatest phenomenon distinguishing the city from other European capitals is the Vistula River bank and the green areas all around the city, amounting to almost 30% of its total area. Therefore this year’s motto will be “Warsaw is the Natural Choice to host the 2013 UN Climate Change Conference COP 19”.
Traditionally, at MIPIM, City of Warsaw presents its investment offer, which includes the urban plots for sale. This year there will be over a dozen offers to acquaint oneself with. The majority of these plots are designated multifamily housing, followed by services and retail outlets. It is worth mentioning that almost half of these offers are located in the city centre and what’s more, few of them are historical buildings.
Among them we have included a special offer called “Serek bielanski” which is arousing investor interest. This, the largest plot in the city’s offers (ca. 27 000 sq.m), is an attractive commercial location next to the “Slodowiec” metro station, with easy access to the city centre. Building guidelines for this site are defined in the appropriate local development plan and describe the land designation as a service functions complex with an underground garage and also multifamily housing. It is planned to divide the site into smaller building plots.
City of Warsaw’s stand at MIPIM will be located in Lerins Hall (stand no. LR4.02), which is the same location as the previous year. Warsaw’s neighbours will be the Polish cities: Wroclaw, Poznan and Gdansk. The same level of the exhibition hall will also accommodate stands of other European cities: Hamburg, Luxemburg and Kiev. Warsaw’s stand will also feature the following companies, which will present the projects they plan to complete in the Polish capital: BBI Development NFI, Black Lion Fund, Ghelamco Poland, Hochtief Development Poland, MARS Closed-End Investment Fund, Polish Airports State Enterprise, Skanska Property Poland and Yareal Poland.
During MIPIM 2013, the Mayor of Warsaw, Hanna Gronkiewicz-Waltz will take part in a Mayors’ Think Tank – a conference session, during which the subjects to be discussed will include local authorities’ perspectives and opportunities for the next decade. This event is reserved for mayors and top political decision-makers. The Mayors’ Think Tank is a platform for political leaders to discuss the challenges facing cities and innovative solutions, as well as to share their thoughts, experience and best practices on urban strategy.
At the previous UN Climate Change Conference COP 18, in Doha, Qatar, Poland’s offer was enthusiastically received by conference participants, resulting in the decision to award Warsaw the title of host for COP 19.
The 2013 UN Climate Change Conference COP 19 will take place in Warsaw this November. Organization of the conference means that Poland will hold the presidency in climate conventions from November 2013 to November 2014, and the Polish Minister of the Environment will chair the COP 19 deliberations. By hosting the UN conference, Poland will strengthen its position in negotiations and will be able to moderate in global discussions. It is also a great opportunity to promote Poland and Warsaw, which will be seen by several thousand participants from all over the world. The choice of Warsaw for UN conference host can be seen as international recognition of the city’s efforts towards climate protection.
