The 4th edition of GRAND OFF took place from 22nd until 29th of November 2010 in Warsaw.

Grand Off – World Off Film Awards is the most important event promoting independent cinema in Poland and one of the most significant initiatives of its kind all over the world. Independent cinema came into existence along with the invention of camera and it can nowadays boast numerous extraordinary productions.

The aim of the festival is to draw people’s attention towards the independent cinema phenomenon.

About festival

Starting from the year 2006, European independent films received nominations in 9 categories. In the year 2008, one additional category, namely the Best Non-European Production was added. This is how the European Festival became a World Grand Off  Awards.

This year, 895 short films from 70 countries all over the world were submitted to the competition.

Best Script: TABU, Belgium, written & directed by: Vincent Coen & Jean-Julien Collette

Best Cinematography: MARINA LA ESPOSA DEL PESCADOR, Colombia, director: Carlos Hernandez, cameraman: Mauro Vidal

Best Editing: THE LONG LONELY WALK, UK, director: Leon Chambers, film editor: Leon Chambers

Best Actress: AM ANDEREN ENDE, Germany, nomination for: Ursula Werner, director: Philipp Doering

Best Actor: THE CAGE (Colivia), Romania, nomination for: Adrian Titieni, director: Adrian Sitaru

Best Documentary: CHASM (Otchłań), Poland, director: Wojciech Kasperski

Best Animation: ZERO, Australia, director: Christopher Kezelos

The project is implemented with Warsaw running for the title of European Capital of Culture 2016.
