“You are wrong...” with these words Warsaw greets foreign visitors at Chopin Airport who come to meetings in connection with the Polish Presidency of the Council of the European Union, ...and then it adds that you are wrong if you think that Warsaw will let you leave without having discovered more about its long heritage and unique charm. Warsaw is a city teeming with life and passion, a hospitable European destination. It is a place that deserves a longer stay.
On 1 July 2011 Poland is taking over the Presidency of the EU Council. The second half of this year will be a time of increased inflow of guests to Warsaw. Two special advertisements have been placed at Chopin Airport to welcome people landing in Warsaw.
A guide to Warsaw has also been published with those visitors in mind, inviting them to take advantage of the tourist attractions and describing the city’s atmosphere.
An exhibition ' Warsaw - the city of free people ' was installed on the corner of Krakowskie Przedmieście & Traugutta St. telling the history of the city and its residents, for whom freedom and democracy are the most cherished values. The exhibition comprises documents, commentaries, information, publications, and curiosities related to historical and contemporary events concerning the contribution of Warsaw and Poland to the democratisation of life in Europe. The exhibition will be open from 2 until 31 July 2011.
On the occasion of Poland taking over the Presidency the Warsaw’s Zamkowy Square was decorated – during two days, from 2 to 4 July, fourteen thousand flowers were placed over an area of 523 sq. m to form the logo of the Polish Presidency.
Warsaw welcomes and invites you for a longer stay. It’s much more than just a place for business meetings – it prides itself on an illustrious history and its cultural heritage; it is a hospitable, open, and European city.
