In poland, schooling is compulsory for children aged 7 to 18. Parents are requires to make sure their children go to school. this includes enrolling children for school, making it possible for children to regularly attend classes, and creating appropriate learning conditions at home.

Every child is guaranteed a place at their district school, as per their place of residence, based on enrolment application made by their parent to the school's head teacher. Applications need to be accompanied by a declaration of the child's and parents' place of residence. Parents may also apply to have their child admitted to a school other than their district school. Such admissions are decided by the head teacher of that other school or made on the basis of enrolment results, if application is for a place in the first class.
