The “Polonia” Centre of the Active Warsaw Capital Sports Centre has undergone a number of changes over the past several years. In addition to the construction of a modern training pitch, the basketball court was renovated and the swimming pool is undergoing a thorough overhaul. The work was overlooked by the Mayor of Warsaw.

“At first glance one can see how much has changed at “Polonia”. Over the past few years we have implemented several investments which have considerably contributed to improved training and playing conditions. Thanks to this, sportspeople and Warsaw residents alike have gained another modern facility to practice various sports,”  said Hanna Gronkiewicz-Waltz, Mayor of Warsaw.

Over the past decade, the “Polonia” Centre of the Active Warsaw Capital Sports Centre has been subject to a number of redecorations. Between 2007 and 2016, more than PLN 41.5 million was spent on modernisation works.

The completed works also included the modernisation of the playing field, including the drainage system, the creation of an access control system, including a fan-identification system, the west stand roof, the modernisation of a water treatment and ventilation installation of the swimming pool, and the adapting of the stadium to FIFA and UEFA requirements.
Recent months saw the comprehensive modernisation of the training pitch, which is now well lit (500 lx), and features modern artificial turf to play on. Thanks to the works carried out, the side pitch now meets the standards necessary to host third-tier games.

Also the basketball hall was renovated, and now has a new floor. Work on the swimming pool hall is still ongoing, and includes the modernisation of the rest & refreshment facilities.
Further projects are scheduled for 2017-2018. Their estimated cost is nearly PLN 5.5 million.
