Holidays are getting closer and closer Residents who have not yet bought a Christmas tree can still do so in almost every district. And Warsaw again encourages you to buy a Christmas tree in a pot. After Christmas, you can transplant it into your own garden or give it to be planted in the Warsaw forest.
There are several dozen places where Christmas trees can be sold in Warsaw. Stands with permission for such sales are located in almost every district, some of them in designated road lanes. Thanks to this, residents can buy a Christmas tree even on the occasion, e.g. returning home.
Perennial Christmas tree
A live Christmas tree can last more than one season. Provided that it will be a Christmas tree with roots, bought in a pot. Conifers can later gain a second life – in the home garden or in the Warsaw forests. City foresters, as in previous years, will organize collections of Christmas trees:
- 14 January 2023. between 10:00 and 14:00 at the Center for Nature and Forest Education of Urban Forests – Warsaw at ul. Rydzowa 1A,
- 21 January 2023. between 10:00 and 14:00 at the headquarters of Lasy Miejskie – Warszawa at ul. Korkowa 170A.
Only native tree species will be accepted: Norway spruce, Scots pine and fir. Foresters also remind that it is best to keep conifers at home as short as possible – this increases the chances of later adoption of the tree. Therefore, it is best to move the Christmas tree to the balcony just after Christmas.
The post-Christmas tree – devoid of decorations, packaging, soil and pot – can also be left in a container marked "green" or in a place designated by the property administrator to collect this waste. From 2023, green waste will be collected throughout the year, instead of March to November as before. The exact collection schedule for a specific address can be checked on the website and in the application Warszawa19115.
Christmas conifers can also be returned to the Selective Municipal Waste Collection Point at ul. Płytowa 1 in Białołęka (open from Monday to Friday, 11:00 - 19:00 and on Saturdays between 9:00-17:00) or place in a home composter.
