Tender for the contractor of automatic city toilets was decided. Modern toilets will be built in 49 locations. The prototype of the first one will be completed within six months.
“The task of building automatic city toilets in the most frequented places of the capital is part of our plans to build attractive and well-equipped public spaces of the capital. We were looking for the optimal solution between not very high price and high quality,” says Michał Olszewski, Deputy Mayor of Warsaw.
Work on ordering new toilets for Warsaw lasted over a year. Thanks to the cooperation with the Warsaw branch of the Association of Polish Architects, specific recommendations regarding the form of toilets appropriate for the space of the capital were formulated.
The offer submitted in the tender is very close to recommendations of the Association. The oval shape and characteristic ceramic tiles on the facade will be easily recognisable. Uniform and simple shape of the new automatic toilets will enable fitting it in various contexts of the city space.
“Materials for the facades of toilets – glazed ceramic tiles, with a proportion of 1:4 – were indicated due to their Warsaw nature. This solution can be found on many Warsaw facades, especially modernist ones, with rounded corners,” says Aleksandra Wasilkowska, architect, one of the authors of the recommendation.
Depending on the location, the range of six colours is to be used. The facade will be covered with ceramic tiles which are: light grey, graphite, black, brown, brick and bottle green.
Toilets will be automated. Among others, automatic opening and closing of door, automatic touch-free washing and cleaning of toilet bowl, washing and heating of floor, remote notification of failures are planned. Common toilets and toilets adapted for use by people with disabilities are provided for.
The cost of one single-stand toilet will be PLN 274 497 net, and the cost of multi-stand toilet PLN 325 000 net. Toilets will be paid. It will be possible to pay for the toilets with 10gr, 20gr, 50gr, 1zł, 2zł, 5zł, 1 € coins and proximity charge card.
Later this year and at the beginning of next month, the city toilets will be placed in nineteen locations. Implementation of another 30 pieces is foreseen in 2017-2018. The first toilet will be put to use in about six months.
