The champion and world-record breaker, multi-medalist and three times laureate of the Plebiscite for the Best Sportsperson in Warsaw – Anita Włodarczyk announced that she will continue to train in Warsaw.

“I’m staying in Warsaw” – this was the announcement made by Anita Włodarczyk. She also added that her plans are still tied to the capital and the RKS “SKRA” Warszawa club.
“We could not let Anita leave our city,” said Jarosław Jóźwiak, Deputy Mayor of Warsaw. “Being represented by such a talented competitor is a great distinction for us. We would like to create in the capital a sports-friendly climate. This will entail not only funding or retro-fitting sports centres, but also great events and well-known names,” he added.

This talented hammer thrower became this year the “Sports Face of Warsaw” for the third time. This title was conferred to the athlete after she won the 16th Plebiscite for the Best Sportsperson in Warsaw in 2015. She also won the 14th and 15th editions of this contest.

She secured this victory thanks to her record-breaking throw in Cetniewo. During the 3rd Kamila Skolimowska Memorial Throws Festival in Cetniewo, she managed to set a world record by throwing the hammer the distance of 81.08 metres. That way she became the first woman in history to throw the hammer over 80 metres.
In less than 50 days Anita Włodawczyk will represent Poland and the capital in the Rio 2016 Summer Olympics.
