Five sections: a retrospective of masterpieces by Taiwanese master Edward Yang, Hong Kong cinematography from the last 25 years, Japanese films sending people into good mood, New Asia Cinema and Asian Cinerama, i.e. the films of masters. Five Flavours Asian Film Festival invites you to the next edition in a hybrid formula. The sale of festival passes have started.
In cinema buildings you will be able to see the films in Muranów and Kinoteka cinemas in Warsaw between 16 and 23 November, while the online edition at piecsmakow.pl will last until 4 December. The lunar patron of this year's Five Flavours is the Water Tiger, representing yang energy and symbolizing strength, vitality and confidence in action.
The festival's selectors take care of the thematic and genre diversity – the programme includes popular cinema, avant-garde and original projects, as well as socially engaged films. Thanks to this, the event becomes a space for confronting the imagination of authors and audiences, discovering Asian pop culture, discussing art, politics and challenges of the modern world.
The festival will be accompanied by a unique People's Jury project, in which non-industry specialists, but passionate and energetic cinema enthusiasts evaluate competition films and decide which of the festival titles will receive the Grand Prix. This year, the organizers invited Asian cinema enthusiasts from all over Europe to Warsaw.
The passes can be purchased at piecsmakow.pl. The festival is co-financed by the Capital City of Warsaw.
